Camp questions,
answered.
A quick guide to member access, camping, and caring for Oak Ridge.
Who can use Camp Oak Ridge?
Oak Ridge is private, not open to the public. Members of the camp’s member congregations may visit. Guests may camp when their member host is present. Lutheran Boy and Girl Pioneer Trains, Caravans, and Districts may arrange a visit, including those from nonmember congregations.
Do I need a campsite reservation?
Campsites are first come, first served. The cabin has its own reservation process. Please record your visit through the camper survey.
How do I get in the gate?
The gate is locked. Ask your congregation’s church office or camp director for a key before your trip. Do not rely on another camper being there.
What does camping cost?
The suggested donation is $10 per night for an RV and $5 per night for a tent. The cabin has a non-refundable $20 nightly rental fee, paid in advance.
How can I help care for the camp?
Help with mowing, trimming, weeding, firewood, trails, and cleaning. Electrical, plumbing, construction, painting, and repair skills are welcome. There is no camp staff; visitors do the work. Equipment training is required before operating tractors and lawn equipment.
Where should I put my trash?
Take your trash home. The camp has no dumpsters. The receptacle outside the shelter is for aluminum cans only.
How do donations and the fair help?
Donations help maintain and improve the camp. Volunteer work at the Racine County Fair ticket booth is a major source of camp income. See the Donate page for payment options and the mailing address.
